about

One-man-funk-machine - Featurecast delivered us a stunning second album: ‘Shout It Out’ in 2016. Joined by a motley crew of party-starting collaborators his second full length studio album was jam packed with jumping tunes fusing breaks of all shapes and sizes spanning funk, breaks, hip hop, d&b, dancehall and bass music.

Unsatisfied with just the one album of awesome tunes our man decided to get a little help from his friends and set about commissioning a remix collection.

Scoping out some of the finest names in electronic music to lend their services including WBBL, Ahee, Defunk and Inapt the resulting ‘Shout It Out Remixes’ does justice to the source material and provides a whole new funk-fuelled fiesta for fans.

First up Canadian native - Defunk gives ‘Addicted’ a Glitch Hop influenced, bass-heavy facelift with a touch of roots. Losing most of the horns and hip hop vibe of the original, D’fro’s lyrics are instead paired with deep sub bass hits, blues slide guitar licks and a screaming solo over the original chords. Perfect for the lumberjack who likes to party!

New Bounce and breaks are top of the agenda in Ahee’s rework of ‘Move’. Giving a nod to the glory days of electro whilst mixing in an army of modern synths, builds, drops and even a samba whistle! It’s a track with its eyes firmly focused in the dancefloor and won’t fail to get people moving like its namesake.

‘Get On Through’ was a fan favourite from Shout It Out and the talented future funk producer Flavours gets stuck in to provide his services flipping it around. Magnificently blending disco, glitch, jazz and hip-hop whilst keeping those killer vocals from D’Fro and Greg Blackman intact is no mean feat, but the Canadian does it with ease…

WBBL transforms the upbeat hip hop and breaks of ‘What You Want’ taking it off in a whole new direction with his Bassline House version. Pugs Atomz, Wes & Ill Legit are all still very present in the mix rhyming over the deep subs, soulful breaks and 90’s house chords.

Next up Inapt bring a tougher Bass House take on ‘999’. Offsetting heavy synths, sirens and booming bass against the ragga vocals and skipping dancehall rhythms of the original the production duo throw in a couple of huge drops to boot. The perfect club banger to get the weekend started.

Closing out the collection perfectly is esteemed Latvian DJ and producer Dubra with a glitch hop mix of ‘Take It Down Low’ that keeps the funk alive and well. Deep basses, mid-tempo beats and an impressive array of synths keep the floor jumping on this awesome club jam.
